Play-offs, Day 1

Red Sox WIN! 9-3! So basing playoff predictions after one day of playoffs is akin to making them after two weeks of regular season play. Anything can happen, these are the playoffs, right? And if I had been on the money at the beginning of the season, we'd see a whole different set of teams now that we're in October (Cubs, Phillies, where are you guys?).

Of course, I'm going to make those predictions anyway. Here goes:
Boston over Anaheim
New York over Minnesotta (five games)
St. Louis over LA (sweep)
Houston over Atlanta

After that, Boston over New York (and a really upset stomach for me)
Houston over St. Louis (in the biggest upset of the playoffs, sorry Glynn!)

A wild card World Series! As for the outcome... well, I wouldn't want to jinx anything...

Did you write Boston OVER New York? I didn't think you did.

I'm actually hoping Minnesota over New York. How can you not like a team with Torii Hunter making awesome catches each game?

Fun fact: Our company softball team for one game, and one game only, had a guy play who had been called up to the Twins. It was terrorizing for the other team, fun for us :)

Re: Viv
Sorry but it's true. And this year more than any other, what with New York's pitiful pitching staff.

Re: Ken
The reason I'd like to see New York over the Twins is two-fold. 1) I'd like to see the Red Sox get their revenge for last year's Aaron Boone, and 2) frankly, Minnesota is a scarier team than New York (see above)

But I've seen the Red Sox play the Yankees in the playoffs... it ain't pretty. There's a lot more than Aaron Boone they need to get revenge for :). Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the Red Sox go all the way...

I am worried about Houston's ability to beat my redbirds. They have so much momentum right now.

That being said, I will never forgive you for your treachery.
